M F HUSSAIN:A Chapter in INDIAN SECULARISM

There is a lot of conflict in my mind or I can say that i have few contradicting questions whenever i think about Mr. M.F Hussain.
At one side,he is recipient of Padma Shree (1955),Padma Bhushan(1973) and Padma Vibhushan(1991) awards which are symbols of the contribution in Indian Culture and On the other hand, He is into exile, shuffling between London and Dubai.
Now the question is how do we see this whole issue? What perception do we have? Should we let him go ( we are knowing that he has been offered to Qatar citizenship.) or Should we proud to have such versatile artist in our country?

I believe that we are forgetting something which makes us proud to be Indian.India is one of the largest democratic country which has sent message of secularism from time to time to the world.
Here we all have our rights to express ourselves in whatever way we want.
The Artists,Painters,Film-makers and Actors, they all have their right in their individual form.
They are free from social taboos. It is their imagination or thought which they express in their work.We must acknowledge it with broad minded views.
If we talk about his controversial paintings about Hindu's deities, then there are few questions which should be answered like ......
why do we not vandalise Khajuraho or some Hindu temples specially in south India?which are epitome of nudity.Khajuraho is world famous and we are proud of it and have made a part of our Indian history study.
So Are we being hypocrite in our own values? This needs to be addressed.

This issue also shows the lackadaisical nature of our legal system. This 95 yrs old man is having more than thousands cases against him. When will these resolve? No idea.
I think he took a wise decision in this regard.
But our government is owed for three things.... our Sovereignty,...Indian secular society....and Efficient Legal system.
